I held a mouse bought at a pet store after school and carried home in my blazer pocket his furry rapid breath and gentle toes too small to be a burden objected to or taken away for days my mother stalked around the house eyes bulging where is it so I set it free in the bushes wild things eat mice I killed a mouse our bulging eyes with the fear of my mother tiny voices echo when they shout affirmations into chambers fired empty by rage I am a mouse.
